It is available only for the LaTeX (\fByodl2latex\fP(1)) converter\&. .PP This manual page briefly describes \fBYodl\fP\(cq\&s \fBletter\fP document type\&. This document type is specific enough that it warrants a separate manpage\&. .PP \fBletter\fP documents do not allow you to use the `standard\(cq\& sectioning commands (e\&.g\&., \fBsect\fP() and \fBsubsect\fP())\&. You can, however, use macros that are normally used within such sections, such as \fBdescription\fP(), \fBitemization\fP(), \fBbf\fP() or \fBem\fP()\&. .PP Several specific macros, to be used in the \fIpreamble\fP, are available for the \fBletter\fP document type\&. They are: .IP o \fBAfourEnlarged\fP\fB()\fP: Enlarges the usable height of A4 paper by 2 cm\&.: the top margin is reduced by 2 cm\&. .IP o \fBletteraddenda\fP\fB(type)(value)\fP: Adds an addendum at the end of a letter\&. \fItype\fP should be \fIbijlagen\fP (i\&.e\&., \fIappendices\fP), \fIcc\fP or \fIps\fP\&. Use nl() within the \fIvalue\fP section if multiple addenda of a certain \fItype\fP are used\&. .IP o \fBletteradmin\fP\fB(yourdate)(yourref)\fP: Puts \fIyourletterfrom\fP and \fIyourreference\fP elements in the letter\&. If left empty, two dashes are inserted\&. .IP o \fBletterfootitem\fP\fB(name)(value)\fP: Puts a footer at the bottom of letter\-pages\&. Up to three will usually fit\&. For example, \fI\fP .IP o \fBletterreplyto\fP\fB(name)(address)(zip city)\fP: Defines the `reply to\(cq\& address\&. .IP o \fBletterto\fP\fB(element)\fP: Adds \fIelement\fP as an additional line to the address of the addressee\&. Use one \fB\fP element for each line of the addressee\(cq\&s address\&. Up to five lines will usually fit\&. A sixth line may be squeezed in, if necessary\&. .PP The \fBletter\fP) macro itself requires the following arguments: .IP o \fBlanguage\fP: select \fIenglish\fP, \fIdutch\fP, or another language supported by the \fBbabel\&.sty\fP style; .IP o \fBdate\fP: the letter\(cq\&s date\&. Use your own date\-convention\&. The text specified here will be used as the letter\(cq\&s date; .IP o \fBsubject\fP: a short indication as to why you wrote the letter .IP o \fBopening\fP: the letter\(cq\&s opening, e\&.g\&., \fIDear Linus,\fP; .IP o \fBsalutation\fP: the letter\(cq\&s closing phrase, e\&.g\&., \fIKind regards,\fP; .IP o \fBauthor\fP: the name of the letter\(cq\&s author\&. \fInl\fP\fI()\fP macros can be used here, but the \fBbrief\fP class will also restrict the width of the author\-lines by itself\&. .PP .SH "SEE ALSO" .PP \fBlatex\fP(1), \fByodl\fP(1), \fByodlbuiltins\fP(7), \fByodlconverters\fP(1), \fByodlmacros\fP(7), \fByodlmanpage\fP(7), \fByodlpost\fP(1), \fByodlstriproff\fP(1), \fByodltables\fP(7), \fByodlverbinsert\fP(1)\&. .PP .SH "BUGS" .PP \- .PP .SH "AUTHOR" .PP Frank B\&.
